West Oakland Metal Art - June 2013

It's been forever since I took these.  I happened to finally get to a chance to check these building size metal statues I've driven pass a hundred times when I went to my daughters art esteem exhibition.  I found out that it was from American Steel Studios in West Oakland.

I used to live in West Oakland, right behind McClymonds High School from 1999-late 2002.  Since I've moved back to Oakland in May 2012 I was completely shocked at the changes in the neighborhoods.  In a good way.  It's so much cleaner and more welcoming especially in this part of West Oakland.  Yet what makes Oakland unique is it's public street art.  I'm so happy some things never change.
